This week, to celebrate the official week 1 of College Football I’’ve decided to give you two sets of locks for the weekend. With a ton of games Thursday/Friday night, and a full slate on Saturday; there were too many games to pick from so I’m giving you 6 bets to HAMMER this weekend.
Thursday/Friday picks:
Ohio State -13.5 against Minnesota: While OSU’s QB has never taken a snap for them, they have a star studded supporting cast on offense and return good production on defense. 13.5 points may be a lot for the season opener, especially against a decent Minnesota team, but Ohio State WILL get in a rhythm early and should have no issue winning by 14+ points.
Northwestern -3.5 against Michigan State: A year removed from the Big10 title game, Northwestern has high hopes for the 2022 season. They have lost some talent, but a 3.5 spread against a poor Michigan State team is too good to pass up.
North Carolina -6.5 against Virginia Tech: COME ON, we really get Sam Howell (my Heisman favorite and darkhorse CFB playoff team) against VT with under a touchdown spread? HAMMER UNC on Friday. Howell and UNC have something to prove this year – expect them to start the season off strong with a win AND cover against VT.
Saturday picks:
Louisiana Lafayette +8.5 against Texas: Texas is back? While they might be, I don’t see them beating LL by 8.5 this weekend. LL is a sleeper team to finish the year ranked in the top 15. They return a lot of production and should keep the game close. Expect them to cover, if not pull off the upset.
Illinois Money Line: After last week, I’m going to keep the train going on the fighting Illinois. Take the Money line, they are going to pull out the win and start the year 2-0. We’re going to ride Illinois until they disappoint me. They looked hot last week against Nebraska and should have no issues beating UTSA.
Purdue / Oregon State; Under 68.5: We all know how Big10 football games usually go – low Last year, Purdue averaged under 28 PPG, and let up under 30. Their defense got better, and they lost their best weapon in the draft. Oregon State can score, but it is Purdue and BIG10 football, 68.5 is A LOT of points. Look for the under to hit hear.
