WEEK 6 TOP STORIES:

B1G holds 3 of the top 6 in the AP Poll: The B1G dominates the top 6 in the AP Poll this week with Michigan, Ohio State, & Penn State all coming in at 2, 3, & 6.

Marvin Harrison Jr. is just fine: Ohio State’s star Wide Receiver & future top 5 pick, Marvin Harrison Jr. had himself a day going off for 130+ yards & 1 TD against Maryland on Saturday. After getting beat up against ND, Marvin Harrison Jr. has healed up just fine.

Michigan truly dominates: Winning 52-10 against the Golden Gophers of Minnesota, Michigan FINALLY looked like a top 3 team in college football.

Rutgers & Maryland not ready to take next step: Both Rutgers & Maryland had a chance to show they were ready to take the next step in B1G football, but both fell short. Maryland had a 10-0 lead but fell 37-17 to Ohio State, & Rutgers lost to Wisconsin 24-13. Both had opportunities & showed flashes that they were on the right track, but couldn’t make the leap.

Northwestern sucks again: Coming into the season, I thought Northwestern’s only guaranteed win was against Howard, & while they did get the win, they majorly struggled on their way to a 23-20 win.

B1G Player of the Week: Marvin Harrison Jr.

Marvin Harrison Jr. did what he often does & sparked Ohio State’s offense on Saturday against the Terps. Despite playing on an ankle injury he suffered against Notre Dame, Harrison came within 22 yards of his career-high hauling in eight receptions for 163 yards & a touchdown in their win over Maryland.

Week 6 Preview:

Game of the week: Iowa at Wisconsin –  Battle of the B1G West, both teams 5-1, both teams fighting for a B1G Championship game. Should be a great game.

Upset of the week: Ohio State at Purdue – Ohio State fans have their fair share of PTSD when it comes to playing Purdue. While I don’t think this is the year that Purdue upsets a top-ranked Buckeyes team, you never know what Ohio State team will show up against the Boilermakers.

Players to Watch:

  • Tanner Mordecai (Wisconsin QB): The Badgers brought in Tanner Mordecai for games like this. The SMU transfer has a chance to prove to Wisconsin that they made the right call bringing him in if he can lead The Badgers to a much-needed win over Iowa.
  • Taulia Tagovailoa (Maryland QB): Taulia looked good to start the OSU game last week, but the offense stalled late in the game. Very interested to see how the Terps QB bounces back.
  • Hudson Card (Purdue QB): I can’t be the only one who forgot Hudson Card transferred to Purdue. While his career at Texas didn’t pan out how he wanted; he can become a Boilermaker legend by leading Purdue to an upset win over the Buckeyes on Saturday.

Heisman Updates:

The only 3 players with a real chance to win the Heisman out of the B1G are Marvin Harrison Jr., JJ McCarthy, & Drew Allar. None look super promising the way Williams, Penix Jr., & Sanders are playing, but there’s a lot of football left to be played. If Allar or McCarthy can lead their teams to an undefeated season & put up Heisman-type stats in the process, they could be propelled into the top of the standings.
