UCLA’s season got off to a somewhat surprising hot start after the Bruins started 6-0 before finishing the 2022 season 9-4.
On the recruiting trail, there have certainly a lot of question marks surrounding UCLA and this coaching staff led by Chip Kelly until recently when they have captured a lot of positive momentum from their season on the field and have turned into some big wins in key recruitments.
UCLA currently has 13 high school signees and have added 9 transfers so far to add up to the No. 4 recruiting class in the PAC-12 and No. 24 overall in the country.

We can’t start talking about UCLA’s class without starting with possibly the biggest recruiting win of any team in the country when the Bruins pulled off a clutch last minute stunner when they were able to flip Detroit (Mich.) Martin Luther King five-star quarterback Dante Moore from PAC-12 foe Oregon.
Even while rumors were swirling around before he officially flipped, it was still hard to believe it was actually going to happen. This is easily Chip Kelly’s biggest recruiting win since he arrived in Westwood and Moore has a legitimate chance to step in and start from day one and take this Bruins program to a Rose Bowl during his career.
While UCLA has been rather selective when it comes to adding high school prospects, they have certainly been aggressive in the transfer portal. They have added two running backs and a tight end along with a quarterback from Kent State in Collin Schlee who will surely provide added depth in the quarterback room and competition in practices.
Two of UCLA’s remaining high school targets who are signing on February 1st have been high priorities for quite a long time for Bruin fans.
Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star cornerback Rodrick Pleasant is one of the fastest players in the country and has been high on UCLA and the idea of staying home. However, they will have to go up against Oregon and USC to try to sign him in what will be a heavy weight battle between these football and track programs.
The other target UCLA fans will want to keep an eye on is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star linebacker Leviticus Su’a who will be committing at the Polynesian Bowl at the end of the month. The other two finalists are Arizona and Stanford, but again, the allure of staying home and playing in the Big 10 at the same time is a big determining factor that cannot be underestimated anymore when it comes to prospects considering UCLA.
