“10 things in the Big Ten”  Week 4

1. Conference record

The Big Ten teams went 9-6 this week as we enter true conference play. So far this season, the conference has a record of 7-9 against Power 4 teams.

2. Michigan’s Big Win

USC was everyone’s pick to win the top 25 matchup between the Trojans and the Wolverines, but behind Michigan’s strong run game, they secured a huge victory—the biggest win for a Big Ten program so far this year. It’s still early in the season, and maybe we gave them too much credit, but either way, Michigan achieved a significant win and silenced many of the critics who said this team had no chance to make the playoffs.

3. Friday Night OT Thriller

We had magic on Friday night as Nebraska and Illinois went into an overtime thriller, with the Fighting Illini pulling out a huge win. This victory proves that they are a true top 25 team as they head into a big Week 5 matchup against Penn State.

4. B10 Heisman Hopeful?

Kaleb Johnson continues to be a DAWG for the Hawkeyes after another stellar game in which he racked up 205 yards and 3 touchdowns in their win over Minnesota. He currently leads the nation in rushing yards with 685, which is 99 more yards than anyone else in the country.

5. Catch of the Year Contenders

We saw some incredible catches across college football this weekend, including two potential Catch of the Year contenders. These are TOO GOOD not to share:

6. Is Indiana the real deal?

A year after going 3-9 (1-8 in conference), firing their coach, and being the worst team in the Big Ten, Indiana is now 4-0. Not many people had that on their 2024 bingo card, but the Hoosiers have looked quite good despite facing below-average opponents. Who knows what’s in store for this Indiana team as the season continues, but they look strong and shouldn’t roll over for any team in the Big Ten for the rest of the season.

7. Big Play Alert – Spin Move Guy is Back

Watch as Ohio State’s star running back, Quinshon Judkins, explodes down the field for an 86-yard touchdown run against Marshall!

8. First Full Week of Conference Play

Conference play truly kicks off this week, with every team battling an in-conference opponent. Indiana takes on Maryland, Minnesota heads to the Big House to face Michigan, USC will try to bounce back against Wisconsin at home, Ohio State faces its first real test on the road at Michigan State, and Oregon plays UCLA in the first “Big Ten After Dark” matchup of the year.

9. White Out Conditions for Saturday

On Saturday night, the Fighting Illini head to Happy Valley to take on my Penn State Nittany Lions during prime time. James Franklin is calling for “white out conditions,” which will be a huge test for the undefeated Illinois squad. The last time Illinois visited Happy Valley, we witnessed one of the worst (or greatest) games of all time—the 9-overtime game. I don’t think Penn State fans will forget about that one, but either way, it should be an awesome game, and I’ll be in attendance!

10. More Friday Night Lights

3-1 Washington makes the cross-country trip to face 3-0 Rutgers on Friday night, where Rutgers opens as a 3.5-point favorite. Tune in at 8:00 PM EST on Fox!
